Ministries
Here are some of the ways we connect and serve....
Prayer Shawl Ministry
This ministry has grown beyond its name to a full outreach ministry. Each year these ladies inspire the congregation to serve the Elderly and Isolated of Ozark County with a bag full of gifts during the Christmas holiday from our Senior Santa Tree. Congregants take an ornament and purchase requested items off the list. The Prayer Shawl ladies spend the year creating beautiful handmade treasures to be included in the bags as well as gifts for our youngest members. The Senior Santa Christmas bags are then hand delivered to the 30-50 recipients each year.
Thanksgiving Box Give-away
In 2020 we began a new ministry of sharing 75+ boxed Thanksgiving meals to deserving families. Each box included a turkey, stuffing, rolls, veggies and more. We hope to continue blessing Ozark County families in this way in years to come.
Christmas Eve Dinner
In 2019 we hosted our first Community Christmas Eve Dinner. Everyone in the area was invited to a free meal and a time of fellowship. In 2020, due to Covid, our dinner was served To-Go Style. As an outreach of the congregation we continue to seek ways to combat hunger and loneliness.
Highway Clean-Up
Our congregation has adopted a large stretch of Hwy 160 along and beyond our land. We collect garbage at least twice a year as a team and individuals take time to keep it up between our joint efforts.
Bible/Book Study
Our congregation believes in growing our faith no matter the age. We offer weekly adult Sunday School at 10 am and also offer studies during the week on relevant topics. Our studies are offered Tuesdays at 6 pm or Thursdays at 10 am. Our community is always invited to join us whether they are members of our congregation or not.
Christmas Nursing Home Gift Giveaway
Each year one of our dedicated members gathers quality used clothing items and room décor to be gifted to residents at our local nursing home. During distribution, other members join in the fun and help each resident find some new treasures.
Outreach Assistance
We strive to keep an active budget for non-member community members in crisis. We assist with rent, utilities, gas, and transportation.
Youth Ministries
We are currently seeking more youth to help regrow our youth ministry here at FCC. In the past we offered fellowship, dinner, study and games! We would love to have your family help us restart this ministry. We have volunteers ready to serve.
Senior Center
Our local Senior Center is a vital location for our ministry. We have several members on the Board of Directors. We volunteer with their daily lunches at least one week a month. Several of our members also help run the Bingo program. Serving our elderly neighbors is a core value of our congregation.
Kids in Need
Each Fall we purchase new clothing items, blankets, and diapers to be sharing with our local Health Department. These items are offered to families in need.
Van Ministries
We have a wonderful church van that we began a van ministry with before Covid. We took trips to plays and other fellowship opportunities. We also use our van for our community’s annual Trunk or Treat Halloween event on the town’s square. Our van is also used to help transport members to outreach sites and to offer rides to community members in need.
Church World Service Blankets
Each December our congregation makes donations for the purchase of wool blankets that are used by Church World Service to help provide comfort, shelter, and love to folks across the world in crisis.
Basic Students Needs Ministry
Our Jr/Sr High School has a program to help students succeed by supplying basic school supplies and hygiene items. These items are free and easily accessible, so students can just take as needed. We support this program with items delivered quarterly to the school.
Week of Compassion (WoC)
WoC is the “on the ground” outreach of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Each year we host a dessert auction to support this vital ministry. When there is crisis, WoC is immediately present and serving. Tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, fire, and so much more bring representatives and resources to communities in need.
Ozark County Food Pantry
We are continued supporters of our local food pantry. We raise funds all year to help purchase foods for the shelves.
Backpack Program
We support the Youth Empowerment Project with donations to help provide food for deserving kids who might not have food over the weekend otherwise.
Project Grad
On Graduation Night, the Seniors gather for a fun night of entertainment and prizes. We help sponsor this event with our donations and time as needed. The goal is to keep our students safe.
